BREEDING IN A SMALL AMOUNT QUALITY JACK RUSSELL
TERRIERS FOR FIFTEEN YEARS
My stub dog, smooth tricolour Lady Rocket I produced straight from England 1992.
She came from a good kennel after a careful selection after half year and she
was in the registry of English Jack Russell Club.
Lady Rocket, Riehu, showed to be an excellent dog: she won two times the bitches
in specialty show being BOS. She was 27 cm high, good structured “miniature”
dog, which had really great, effective movements and fine character.
Unfortunately her hunting instincts were her fortune when she tried to “hunt”
horses that had escaped from the pen.
Father of Riehu´s first litter was an import form Holland, Duky, who won at the
same time the specialty show as Riehu won the first time. From the second litter
with the Finnish male Rasmus came Riemu-Ralli (Ralli), smooth tricolour girl,
who was left at home to go on Riehu´s bloodlines. Ralli`s sister, Rakas-Ritsa,
was successful in hunting: she has hunted i.e. four badgers.
Roberto (Roope), also a winner in specialty many times, was the father to the
litter of Kuuhaukun Jumping Joy (Duky x Lady Rocket). This combination produced
Kuuhaukun Uno Turhapuro (Uuno), who was owned by the owner of the father, Irmeli
Tirkkonen. Uno was also successful in shows, winning also specialty show as his
father.
From the combination of Uno Turhapuro x Ralli, which was a lining back to Riehu,
was left at home Riimi, Kuuhaukun Bearded Belladonna, a rough coated tricolour
girl. From the litter of Ralli and Akvavitix Baskeri-Ville was born FIN working
CH, RUS & RKF & BLR & EST <U & ROM & LV & BALT CH, & Transylvania W-07
Kuuhaukun King-Pin (Jätti), who is very nice structured male and the father to
two Riiimi´s litters. It is great, that Jätti still got the title Working CH as
his older age.
From the first litter of Jätti and Riimi, again a meaning to get Riehu´s fine
qualities from the lines, was born the FINN CH & working CH Kuuhaukun
Juku-Mikä-Joiku (another of the two double champions getting trough the
characteristic fox test in Finland), that got also the title of The Jack Russell
of the Year 2004. Juku-Mikä Joiku´s sister, Sähäkkä Seireeni, was breeded with
the import from Holland King-Bassie´s Lover Boy, from what combination came
Kuuhaukun Unelmaprinssi, who was in puppies BOB 2. in the specialty show for all
the terrier breeds. His full brother Kuuhaukun Purppuraprinssi got the FINN CH
title on the summer 2007.
The father of the litter on autumn 2005 Jevil´s Zodiak, Teddy (he has many
Exellents in the shows) is a small, alert and compact male from the Finnish
bloodlines. From Teddy´s and Kuuhaukun Endless Energy´s (Jätti x Riimi)
combination was left home Kuuhaukun Päiväunien Pimu, Raiku, who has made our
life funnier with her endless energy and ingenuity. Raiku has surprised us only
positively, though she ate one couch as a puppy. Raiku has become a beautiful
and charming Russell girl, who is a real heartbreaker!
Another heartbreaker came to our kennel on summer 2008 from the famous Cumbreck
kennel from England. Voomer, Cumbreck Va-Va Voom is black and white (a real BW,
not dark brown) male, who has this miniature, a real british type structure and
the loveliest character, same time lively, eager and sensitive. Cumbreck kennel
has pure and genuine jack russells and their breeding work goes back to the 1700
century. Cambria area (where Cumbreck kennel is located) has been the genuine
home of Jack Russell terriers. In Cambria Jack Russells have always been working
dogs and Cumbreck dogs are still used in this original work and the breeding is
based on real knowledge in breeding and jackrussell breed.
On 2009 in July I fetched british girls Tilda, Freecroft´s Walzing Mathilda, and
Hulda, Freecroft´s Hilarious Hulda, from England to bring new bloodlines to
Finnish jackrussells and as an aim still to avoid using a lot of breeded lines
with healthy problems. Tilda and Hulda are really brisk, well structured russell
girls, who adjust themselves unbelievable easily to every situation. They are
really kind and take new circumstances as they would have always been there,
that makes one to think, that the native home country of this breed has managed
to preserve the character as original and moderate; the little girls never
complain or cry and they are really easy to handle. They seem to have an
exellent expressive behaviour. Many grateful thanks to Stuart Kemp and his
Nikki-wife and their lovely children from Freecroft kennel for these sweet and
lovely jackrussell girls!
In breeding work my goal is british/working type dog; a small, compact, medium
boned and healthy Jack Russell terrier, that has a good character and structure.
His appearance must impress the genuine work of Jack Russell; Jack Russell has
always been a hunting dog, who has been able to go on small caves. The
characteristic terrier head (not too wide) and compact, athletic body (not too
heavy) with a brisk typical terrier character not forgetting the ability to work
are the goals in my breeding work.
